May 19 and 20, 2016 - Glacier Bay, Alaska (and College Fjord)

The cruise took us in to Glacier bay on the 19th.  The day was crystal clear and sunny, making it great for viewing the glaciers.

We spent a fair amount of time hovering just off Marjorie Glacier, one of the most active calving glaciers in the world.

We saw quite a few calvings.

Also saw a reasonable number of birds.

The next day we were in College Fjord where many of the glaciers are named for Ivy League colleges.  However, the weather was pretty lousy so we have no pictures.

We arrived in Whittier on the 21st and took a bus directly to the Anchorage airport where we flew directly back to home.  Normally we would have stayed for some sightseeing but it was too early in the year to head north to the Arctic Circle and it was also too early to go to Kodiak to see the bears.  So we headed home.
